Solo Rehearsal Sit-ins

Rehearsal Sit-in To Decipher an Illegible Punishment
At the Boston City Hall & the After-Presentation
March 11, 2011 – Present
The project consisted of Negrete performing a solo rehearsal sit-in to interrogate the social/spatial design of this civic space in relation to a peaceful act of resistance against the invisible effects of incarceration, alienation, symbolic violence and social control. Through this combination she created a poetic performance and speech act that she uses for her preliminary study and final thesis.
The following documentation shows the actual sit-in at the Boston City Hall and after presentation at ACT-MIT. A 3rd facet of this project became part of the Thesis Presentation-Performance on May 18, 2011. [Visit this link]

March 14, 2011 – After the sit-in, Negrete presented this material as an immersive minimal installation and preliminary research for her Thesis Project.
The following documentation shows the preliminary research she produced after the sit-in. She presented two performance based-videos and an immersive minimal installation with the material weight where also the audience was invited to touch and read.
