I Thought I’ve Seen Humans

I Thought I’ve seen Humans

SEPT. – OCT. 2011

Alcatraz Island – CA

VIDEOS I USED DURING THE PERFORMANCE:

...Alcatraz Island like most former prisons is the strangest place to visit

(in progress)

After visiting the prison’s hospital in the summer 2010, the following year, I created an immersive live multimedia performance titled “I thought I’ve seen Humans.” My intend was to invite audiences to bear witness the nightmarish  architecture of the hospital and in combination to bear witness the ways I’ve been transforming the weight and the stories I carry.

The documentation you are seeing on this page is only the material that accompanied the live performance presented at the symposium of Justice and Freedom on October 23rd and 24th of 2011.

Documentation of the live performance can be seen upon request.

PAGE-SAMPLES OF THE BOOKLET I USED FOR THE LIVE PERFORMANCE IN OCT 23th and 24th, 2011 at the Hospital of this former Federal Prison:

The following images are the performance-based photographs that artist Ivy McClelland took of me at the hospital and I used for the design of the booklet. During those performances I used the jumpsuit that I cut into large pieces and redesigned it into a quilt to wrap the material weight.
